Dasheri

This mango is often harvested during the extended (growing) season, stretching from May to around August. When they are ripe, they have this light greenish and also yellowish hue, while the flesh is somewhat peachy. When you pluck the mango, it will exude aromatic and sweet-smelling fragrance. From the smell alone, you can tell that it’s sweet and juicy. Unfortunately, this mango can be found easily in Pakistan, Nepal, and northern India. It can be quite difficult to find Dasheri variants elsewhere.

When compared to other mangoes previously discussed, Tommy Atkins variant may not be super juicy, sweet, or tasty. It’s one of the most common variants found in the UK or the US. Those mango enthusiasts may think of this variant as the mild type for the flavor. However, this variant is quite tough when it comes to rough handling and bruising. Not to mention that it has quite an impressive long shelf life. That’s why it’s considered one of the most popular and likable variants.
